As soon as you notice the gravy stain, try to blot it with a cloth or paper towel. This will help prevent the stain from spreading further, as well as lifting some of it away.
Check the care instructions on your Duchesse lace fabric before attempting to clean stain. Some fabrics may be prone to shrinkage or discoloration if washed in certain temperatures or with certain detergents. If the instructions say “dry clean only”, consult a professional dry cleaner for best results.
If care instructions allow machine washing, you can pre-treat stain by rubbing a mild laundry detergent into it with a wet cloth. Leave the detergent on the stain for a few minutes before moving on to next step.
Set your machine to the gentlest cycle it has and use cold or lukewarm water to protect your Duchesse lace. Add a cup of vinegar to the wash water for an extra boost of stain-fighting power.
After the cycle is complete, remove your fabric and air dry it. Do not put it in dryer, as this can damage the delicate fabric.
Once your item has completely dried, check area to make sure the stain has been completely removed. If not, repeat steps three and four with a stronger detergent or laundry additive.
