When it comes to removing gravy stains, time is of essence. The sooner you treat a stain, the easier it is to get rid of. As soon as you notice a gravy stain on your dress, blot away any excess gravy with a paper towel or absorbent cloth. Try to avoid rubbing the stain, as this will only spread it further.
Now it’s time to pre-treat the stain. Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with half a cup of warm water and dab the mixture onto the stain. Then let your dress sit in a cold water bath for at least 30 minutes. This will help loosen up the stain and make it easier to remove.
After the pre-treating and soaking process, you can add your dress to washing machine. Use a gentle detergent and don’t forget to set the water temperature to cold. After the wash is finished, rinse the dress with cold water until there are no suds left.
The final step is to air dry the dress. Hang dress up and make sure it has plenty of room to breathe. Do not put dress in dryer, as this can cause the stain to set and make it harder to remove.
Removing gravy stains from dresses may seem daunting at first, but with a few simple steps you can easily get the job done. Remember to act quickly, pre-treat stain, and then wash and rinse in cold water. Finally, hang up the dress to air dry, and you’ll have a gravy-free dress in no time.
