What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Cotton swabs
  • White cloth

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Rinse stain with cold water. To start, rinse stain with cold water in order to flush some of the grease away. Avoid using warm or hot water as this could set stain.
  2. Apply dish soap. After rinsing, apply a small amount of mild dish soap onto a cotton swab. Gently rub the affected area and the surrounding areas with the swab to help break down the grease.
  3. Rinse again with cold water. Once you’ve applied the dish soap, rinse stain with cold water once more.
  4. Treat with white vinegar. Soak a white cloth with a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Rub the cloth over the stain for a few minutes in order to help lift the grease.
  5. Rinse the garment again. Finally, rinse the garment with cold water once more to remove vinegar.

Additional Tips

  • Be gentle when rubbing the stained area so that fabric isn’t damaged.
  • Avoid rubbing stain too vigorously as this could spread the stain to other areas.
  • If the stain persists after following these steps, take the garment to a professional cleaner.
