When a gravy stain lands on your coat, it can be hard to know where to start. It’s important to act fast, as the longer a stain sits, the harder it is to remove. Here’s how to clean up those gravy stains in a few simple steps.
The key to getting a gravy stain out is to act quickly. As soon as you realize a mistake has been made, blot away any excess liquid with a clean, dry cloth. If there is still a bit of liquid left, it’s okay to dab it with a damp cloth.
Mix up a solution of white vinegar and water and gently dab the stained area—this will help to break up the stain. Then take a drop of dish soap and some cold water and mix them together. Use a soft toothbrush to lightly scrub the stained area with this mixture, making sure not to use too much pressure.
Once pre-treating is complete, toss the coat in the washing machine—make sure to set washer for cold to avoid setting the stain. Add a scoop of laundry detergent to machine and allow the cycle to finish its cycle.
Once the wash cycle is complete, check the coat to see if any of the stain remains. If so, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain is gone or barely visible.
