Gravy stains on chiffon georgette often have the tendency to spread, so it is best to act quickly in order to avoid further damage. The first step is to gently dab the stain with a dry, white cloth. This will help to absorb some of excess liquid while avoiding causing further damage to the fabric. Be sure to use a white cloth, as colored cloths can cause color transfer onto the material.
The next step is to create a solution of 1 teaspoon of gentle detergent mixed with 1 quart of warm water. Using a clean white sponge, apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for several minutes. Next, rinse the area with clear, cold water and then pat with a dry cloth.
If the stain has not been completely removed, you can try using a small amount of oxygen bleach. Create a solution of 1 tablespoon of oxygen bleach mixed with 1 quart of warm water and apply to the stain. Let the solution soak into the fabric for at least 15 minutes before rinsing. Once again, rinse with clear cold water before patting dry.
For a deeper cleaning, you can add white vinegar to the oxygen bleach solution. Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 1 quart of warm water and 1 tablespoon of oxygen bleach. Allow the solution to soak into the fabric for at least 20 minutes before rinsing and patting dry.
These simple steps will help you effectively remove gravy stains from chiffon georgette fabric. With a little bit of effort, you can have your fabric looking good as new.
