Cleaning Supplies

  • Cold running water
  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft cloth or sponge

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. As soon as possible, rinse the stained area with cold running water from the backside of the garment. This is important, as it will prevent the stain from spreading.
  2. Create a detergent solution by mixing together a small dab of laundry detergent with some cold water. Use this mixture to gently dab the stained area, making sure to not rub vigorously.
  3. Mix together equal parts white vinegar and water, then apply it to the stained area. Be sure not to saturate the fabric too much, as this could cause the color of your garment to bleed out.
  4. Finally, make a paste out of baking soda and water and apply it to the area. Use a damp cloth or sponge to rub it into the stained area, then allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Rinse the area with cold water and repeat steps 2-4 if needed. If the stain has faded significantly, put the fabric in the washing machine on a cold cycle with a mild detergent.

Additional Tips

  • Before attempting to remove the stain, always check the label of your cashmere garment for washing instructions.
  • If the stain does not come out after the first attempt, do not try to treat the fabric again until you have consulted a professional cleaner.
  • When using laundry detergent and vinegar, make sure to spot test a hidden area of the garment before proceeding.
