The first step in dealing with any type of stain is to blot up as much liquid as possible without pushing it further into fabric. Use a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to blot up the excess gravy. Do not rub or scrub at stained area, as this could cause the stain to spread further.
Before washing the garment, it's important to pre-treat the stain to break down the grease. You can either use a commercial pre-treatment product, such as a stain remover or laundry detergent, or a homemade solution. Make a paste with 1 part dishwashing detergent and 3 parts water and apply it to stain. Allow the paste to sit for 15-20 minutes before laundering. After the pre-treatment, rinse the area with cool water.
Once stain has been pre-treated, you can launder the garment according to the care label instructions. Use a cold setting for water, and choose a gentle cycle if possible. If necessary, you can also add a small amount of a color-safe bleach to the wash cycle. Never use hot water on grease stains, as it can cause stain to set.
Before putting garment in the dryer, check the stain to make sure it's gone. If it's still visible, pre-treat the stain again and repeat the laundering process.
