When you spill gravy on your favorite shirt, act quickly and try to soak up as much of liquid as possible with a paper towel or clean cloth. After that is done, it’s time to scrub! Start by mixing together a solution of lukewarm water, laundry soap, and white vinegar, and use a clean cloth to gently dab the stain. Be sure to work from the outside of the stain in, so that you don’t spread the stain further.

Once you have done this, rinse the area with cool water and then pretreat the remaining stain with a deep-cleaning stain remover such as Tide Ultra Stain Release. Let this sit for 15 minutes before laundering the shirt according to the instructions on the label.

If the stain is still present after laundering, repeat the above steps and allow shirt to air dry. Avoid throwing the shirt into a hot dryer as this will set the stain. Instead, lay the garment flat to air dry and inspect the stain again when it has dried. If the stain remains, you may need to take it to a dry cleaner who can professionally remove the stain for you.
