Immediately after the gravy spills onto your suit, use a clean cloth or paper towel to gently blot at the stain and absorb any excess liquid on the fabric.
Mix ¼ teaspoon of a neutral detergent such as Woolite with one cup of cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab the stain, moving from the outside to the inside. Allow the detergent to work for 3-5 minutes.
Rinse the area with cold water and a clean cloth. If the stain persists, repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain is gone.
Once the stain is gone, wash the area with warm water and gently blot it with a clean cloth. Allow the area to dry before applying a stain remover.
Apply a small amount of a commercial stain remover such as OxiClean to the area. Gently rub the area with your fingertips and let the remover sit for at least 15 minutes. Rinse the area with warm water and blot with a clean cloth.
Finally, lay the garment flat on a clean surface and allow it to air dry. Once it's completely dry, check to make sure the stain has been completely removed. If the stain is still there, repeat Steps 2-6.
Be sure to check the label on your suit before attempting to clean it. Use only lukewarm water—hot water could cause irreversible damage to the fabric. And be sure to spot test all cleaning products on an inconspicuous area of garment before using them on the stain.
