As soon as you notice a gravy stain on your Battenberg lace, take a soft, white cloth and blot the affected area gently. Work from the outer reaches of the stain inward, applying pressure with the cloth to absorb the gravy. Be sure to use light strokes so as not to damage the fabric.
Mix baking soda and water to form a paste-like consistency, and apply it to stained area of the Battenberg lace. Allow it to sit for an hour before rinsing it off with cold water.
Mix a mild detergent like Woolite with cold water in a spray bottle, and gently spray the area affected by the gravy stain. Leave the solution on for a few minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.
Gently dab the stained area with a soft towel to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring the material as this can cause damage.
Hang up the Battenberg lace to air-dry and avoid using direct heat such as a clothes dryer as it can damage the delicate fabric.
