The first step when removing a grass stain is to pre-treat area with a stain remover. Gently rub a liquid detergent into the stain and let it sit for up to an hour. This helps to loosen the stain, making it easier to remove.
Once you have treated the stain, fill a sink or bucket with warm water and submerge stained area. Let it soak for a minimum of 30 minutes. This will help to further loosen the stain and make it easier to remove. If the stain is still not lifting after 30 minutes, you can add a few drops of laundry detergent or a small amount of white vinegar to the water.
When the stain has had enough time to soak, it’s time to wash it. Use a gentle detergent and cold water and scrub the stained area with a soft cloth. Don't use too much pressure as this can damage the fabric. Continue to scrub until the stain has completely lifted.
Rinse area with cold water until all traces of the detergent or vinegar are gone. Then, let the tuxedo air-dry in a warm, dry place. Avoid using hot water or placing the tuxedo in the dryer, as this may cause the stain to set.
