Tussah is a type of silk fabric that is known for its subtle sheen and sturdy durability. But like most fabrics, tussah can become stained with grassy debris. Luckily, cleaning grass stains from tussah is a relatively straightforward process.

To begin, pre-treat the grass stains with a mild liquid laundry detergent or stain remover. Apply the detergent directly onto the stained area and gently massage solution into the fabric with your fingertips. Allow the detergent to sit on the fabric for five minutes before rinsing it off with cold or lukewarm water.
Fill a sink or basin with cold or lukewarm water and add a teaspoon of color-safe bleach or an enzyme-based laundry detergent. Gently submerge stained tussah fabric into the water and allow it to soak for at least an hour. After the fabric has finished soaking, rinse it off with cold water.
Finally, place tussah into the washing machine with a mild liquid laundry detergent. Use the delicate cycle and set the temperature to cold. For extra sanitation and stain removal, you can add a cup of white distilled vinegar or half a cup of baking soda to the wash cycle. Once the tussah is finished laundering, hang it out to dry in the sun or tumble dry on low heat.
