Grass stains

Step 1: Rinse Immediately

As soon as you notice the stain, rinse it gently with cold water first. Rinsing it will help to reduce the likelihood of a discoloured or faded patch.

Step 2: Soak in Detergent

Fill a container with warm water and add some laundry detergent. Soak stained area of the clothing for 15-20 minutes. The detergent will help to break down the proteins in the grass, making it easier to remove when washing.

Step 3: Rub with a Soft Brush

Once you’ve finished soaking, rub the stained area lightly with a soft brush. This will help to dislodge more of the grass from the material and further break down proteins.

Step 4: Re-Soak

Once you’ve done this, re-soak the item for another 10-15 minutes in the detergent-water solution. This will help ensure that all of the grass has been removed.

Step 5: Rinse with Hot Water

Rinse the clothing with hot water to finish loosening any remaining grass stains. The hot water should also help to kill any bacteria that may have got onto the material.

Step 6: Launder as Usual

Finally, launder your clothing as normal, either by hand or machine. Be sure to follow the care instructions on the label if you’re handwashing, and use the correct temperature when washing in a machine.

Step 7: Air Dry

Once your laundry cycle is finished, allow the piece of clothing to air dry. This will help to ensure that no traces of grass remain on the fabric.
