What Causes Grass Stains?

Grass stains are caused when something wet—such as dew or rain—comes into contact with a tent's fabric or the camping gear. This wetness then causes the green pigment of grass to stick to the material.

Removing Grass Stains

We recommend using a mild detergent solution to remove grass stains from your camping gear or tent. To make your own detergent solution, mix together a few drops of mild laundry detergent with lukewarm water. Use a soft cloth to rub the solution into the grass stain.

If the stain is still visible after you have applied the detergent solution, rinse the area with cold water to remove any remaining detergent residue. Then, reapply detergent solution and leave the fabric or camping gear to air dry in the sun. Once dry, the stain should be gone!

Preventing Future Grass Stains

To avoid future grass stains, try spraying your camping gear or tent with a waterproofing spray or sealant. This will help keep moisture from seeping into the fabric and cause less staining.

It's also a good idea to store your camping gear in a dry place when not in use, as this will prevent any moisture from collecting on the fabric.
