It’s always best practice to act as quickly as possible when trying to remove grass stains from tartan. As soon as you notice the stain, use a soft cloth or sponge to dab at it gently, using cold water. This will help dilute the stain and reduce its intensity.
There are a few common household ingredients that can help you get rid of grass stains on tartan. First, mix equal parts lemon juice and water in a bowl and apply it to the stained area. Let it sit on the fabric for about 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Alternatively, you can create a paste out of equal parts white vinegar and baking soda and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse it away with warm water.
If the grass stain is still visible after attempting the above steps, you may need to use a commercial stain remover. Look for one specifically designed to tackle grass stains, and follow the instructions on the package. Make sure to pre-test solution on an inconspicuous area of tartan to make sure it won’t cause any damage.
If all else fails, pretreat the stain with a mixture of salt and hydrogen peroxide. Mix 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of table salt and mix until it forms a paste. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
Following these steps should help you get rid of grass stains on tartan fabric. Of course, it’s always best practice to take preventive measures such as spot treating with a stain remover or spot cleaning as soon as stain occurs. Good luck!
