A good place to start is making sure you have the right supplies. Typically, you’ll need a vacuum, a brush for scrubbing, a hose or power washer, a mesh strainer, a pool liner cleaner and a chlorine-free stain remover.
The first step is to identify the source of the stains. This means looking around the pool area to land spots and determine if the grass is overgrowing or if there are any other debris that could be washing into the pool. You should also make sure the chemicals you’re using won’t damage the liner.
Once you’ve determined cause and have gathered your supplies, it’s time to remove the dirt build up. Start by vacuuming and brushing away any dirt and debris, being careful not to scrub too hard or you could damage the liner. Use a strainer to collect large particles and a power washer or hose to rinse the area.
Next, use a chlorine and acid-free pool cleaner to break down the dirt and grease and help lift the grass stains from the pool. Make sure to follow the directions carefully as some chlorine-based cleaners may damage your liner. For stubborn stains, mix a small amount of non-chlorine stain remover with water and scrub gently with a soft brush. Rinse well and repeat as necessary until the stains are gone.
Finally, once the grass stains are gone, it’s important to maintain your pool properly. Check the pH and chlorine levels regularly, vacuum regularly, and use appropriate chemicals to keep your liner looking its best.
