What You'll Need

  • A clean cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Liquid detergent
  • Baking soda

Making a Vinegar Soak

The first step in getting rid of grass stains is to create a soaking solution with white vinegar. To do this, mix together 1 quart of white vinegar with 1 cup of water in a bowl or basin. Put the stained sweatpants into the liquid and let it soak for at least one hour.

Using Liquid Detergent

Once you have let your sweatpants soak, you can use liquid detergent to remove the stain. Using a clean cloth (or your hands if you don't mind getting dirty), rub detergent into the stained area. Make sure to use gentle strokes to avoid damaging the fabric of the sweatpants.

Adding Baking Soda

After using the detergent, you can add baking soda to the stain. Cover the stain with baking soda and leave it on overnight. The baking soda will help to soften the stain and make it easier to remove. In the morning, brush off the baking soda and check to see if the stain has been removed.

Final Steps

If there is still some stain remaining, repeat the steps above until it is gone. Once the stain has been removed, wash the sweatpants as usual with laundry detergent and cold water. Hang up the sweatpants to air dry and you're done!
