What Causes Grass Stains?

Grass stains occur when the blades of grass come in contact with fabric of clothing. The oils and pigments that are found within the blades of grass can latch onto clothing fibers, leading to a stubborn stain.

Pretreatment

Before you start trying to remove the grass stain from the sleep shirt, it's important to do a few things to pre-treat the stain. First, use a spoon to scrape off any excess grass on sleep shirt. For particularly tough stains, use a butter knife. This will help to reduce the stain size.

Next, you'll want to wet the stained area with cold water to reduce its size even further. Then, grab some liquid detergent and gently rub it into the stain. Try not to rub too hard otherwise you may damage the fabric of shirt. Rinse the sleep shirt under cold water and check to see if the stain has faded.

Removing the Stain

If the stain is still there, it's time to take more drastic measures. Grab a bottle of white vinegar and pour it directly onto stain. Let this sit for at least 10 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. You should be able to see stain fading away.

If stain is still present, try using some rubbing alcohol to remove it. Pour the rubbing alcohol onto the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, rinse off with cold water. If all else fails, you can try using bleach on the stain. Before using bleach, make sure to wear gloves and read the instructions on the label carefully.

Laundering Sleep Shirt

Once you have removed the grass stain, throw the shirt in washing machine. Use cold water and a mild detergent to ensure the fabric isn't damaged further. Hang dry the shirt and when it's done, you should have a stain-free sleep shirt!
