Removing Grass Stains From Silk Organza

  • Create a vinegar solution. Start by mixing equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl. Submerge the stained area of your silk organza fabric in the solution and let is soak up to an hour.
  • Mix a detergent and cold water solution. Fill a large bowl with one teaspoon of mild detergent and three cups of cold water. Dunk the stained area in the mixture and leave it to soak for 10 minutes.
  • Create a hydrogen peroxide solution. Hydrogen peroxide is a great way to remove stubborn grass stains from silk organza. Combine equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water and add a few drops of dish soap. Soak the stained area for about 15 minutes before blotting away any excess liquid.
  • Scrub the stain with a gentle brush. Taking a soft-bristled toothbrush, work the solution into stain while gently scrubbing it. Don't be too aggressive with your scrubbing motion as this can damage delicate fabric.
  • Rinse fabric with cold water. After scrubbing the stain, rinse the fabric in cold running water. Make sure to thoroughly rinse all of the solution off, as this will help prevent the stain from setting.
  • Machine wash the fabric. Once you have rinsed away the solution, throw the fabric in the washing machine with a mild detergent. Wash on the delicate cycle and air dry.

Tips for Removing Grass Stains From Silk Organza

  • Test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area first. This will help ensure that the fabric won't become damaged by the cleaning solution.
  • Avoid using bleach or other harsh chemicals. These can drastically damage the delicate silk fabric.
  • If the stain persists, repeat the steps above. It may take several attempts to fully remove the stain.
  • For tough stains, take your fabric to a dry cleaner. A professional dry cleaner will have the right equipment and expertise to properly remove the stain.
