How to Remove Pesky Grass Stains from Delicate Silk Habotai

Grass stains can be a major headache when it comes to cleaning delicate fabrics, like silk habotai. Luckily, there are several methods you can use to easily and effectively remove grass stains and keep your clothing looking like new.

Supplies Needed

  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Liquid dish detergent
  • Ammonia
  • A few clean white cloths

Removing Grass Stains from Silk Habotai

  1. Dampen the stained area with a cloth containing a mixture of equal parts distilled white vinegar and water. Allow the mixture to sit on the stain for a few minutes.
  2. Take a clean cloth and dab at the stain, being careful not to scrub or rub it so as not to damage the fabric.
  3. If the stain remains, mix a solution of 1 teaspoon liquid dish detergent in 1 cup of lukewarm water.
  4. Using a clean cloth, dab at the stain with the detergent solution. Again, be sure not to scrub or rub so as not to damage the fabric.
  5. If the stain persists, make a paste of 1 tablespoon ammonia and 1 tablespoon of water. Rub paste onto stain with a soft, clean cloth and blot with a damp cloth.
  6. Once the stain has been removed, use clean damp cloth to rinse the area and blot the fabric until dry.

  • To prevent the grass stains from setting in, it's best to treat it right away.
  • Always do a patch test with any cleaning solution prior to using to ensure it won't damage the silk habotai.
  • Soak the stained fabric in cold water for a few hours before trying any of removal methods listed above.
