If your silk dupioni fabric has been sprayed with water, best thing to do is to dab off any excess liquid with a clean cotton cloth. Next, create a paste of equal parts cornstarch and cold water. Apply the paste onto the stained area, and leave it for 15 minutes. Then, brush off the paste with a soft-bristled brush.

The next step is to mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with a quarter cup of washing up liquid. Place this mixture onto the stain, and leave it to soak for 20 minutes. Finally, use a damp cloth to gently rub the stain in circular motions. Rinse cloth and repeat until the stain has been removed.

It’s important to test the fabric before applying any cleaning solutions or treatments. Take a corner of fabric and apply a small amount of the solution to see if the color is affected. If you notice any discoloration, don’t proceed any further.

When laundering the fabric, be sure to use the gentle cycle and a mild detergent. Never use hot water, as this may set the stain permanently. Dry fabric in low heat, and avoid ironing it until the stain has been completely removed.

If the stain persists, you can try taking it to a professional dry cleaner who specializes in silk fabrics. They will have the necessary experience and knowledge to safely and effectively remove the stain without damaging the fabric.
