Removing grass stains from silk crepe de chine can seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools and techniques, you can easily banish any grass stains that may have made their way onto your clothing. Silk crepe de chine is an especially delicate fabric, and so you must ensure that you are careful during the cleaning process, as the wrong cleaning solution could end up ruining the fabric.
What You'll Need:
- Liquid detergent
- White vinegar
- Ammonia
- Cold water
- Soft brush
- Clean towel
Instructions:
- As soon as you notice the grass stain on the fabric, blot it with a clean towel to absorb as much of stain as possible.
- Mix together a solution of 1 part liquid detergent, 1 part white vinegar, and 2 parts cold water in a bowl. Avoid using hot or warm water, as this could cause stain to set further into the fabric.
- Dip a soft-bristled brush into solution and gently scrub the stain, ensuring not to rub too harshly.
- Once the stain has been removed, rinse the fabric thoroughly with cold water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
- If the stain is still present after the initial cleaning, you may need to use a stronger solution. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 part ammonia and 2 parts cold water. Dip the brush into the solution, and gently scrub the area until grass stain is gone.
- Once you’re satisfied that the stain is fully removed, rinse fabric with cold water and hang to dry.
Tips:
- Ensure to test any cleaning solutions on a small inconspicuous area of the garment before proceeding with the entire stain.
- When tackling grass stains, always work from the outside of the stain inwards, in order to prevent the stain from spreading further.
