Using a soft brush, such as a toothbrush or a suede brush, gently brush away any dirt that is stuck to the shearling fabric. Brush in one direction to avoid damaging the material.
Using a spoon or a dull knife, carefully scrape away any excess grass stain that is stuck to the fabric. Be sure not to press too hard while scraping as this can damage shearling.
Fill a bucket with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent. Submerge the shearling fabric in the bucket and allow it to soak for 30 minutes. This will help to loosen the stain and any dirt particles.
Using a soft cloth, gently scrub the stained area of the fabric. Use a circular motion for best results. You may want to use a suede brush if the stain is particularly stubborn.
Remove fabric from the bucket and rinse with cold water. It's important to avoid using hot water on shearling as this could cause the material to shrink.
Gently pat down the fabric with a dry cloth and then lay it flat on a towel. Allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
Once fabric has dried, apply a water and stain protector to prevent future stains. Follow the instructions on the product packaging to ensure proper application.
By following these seven steps, you can rid your shearling of pesky grass stains and restore it to its original beauty. With a bit of patience and the right approach, your shearling jacket will soon look as good as new.
