The best place to start when cleaning grass stains from purses is with a gentle soap, such as dishwashing liquid, mixed with warm water. Using a soft cloth or sponge, gently work the mixture over the stained area of the purse. If stain is particularly stubborn, you may need to use an old toothbrush to work the soap into it.
If the soap and water method isn’t doing the trick, you can try combining a small amount of laundry detergent with shaving cream, and working it into the stained area with an old toothbrush. This will usually be enough to break down and remove the grass stain.
A commercial stain remover such as Zout or OxiClean is another good option for removing grass stains from purses. Make sure to follow the directions on product’s label carefully and test it in an inconspicuous area of the purse first, to make sure it won’t cause discoloration or damage fabric.
If all else fails, you can also try treating the stain with white vinegar. Pour some vinegar onto a clean cloth, then press it onto the grass-stained area of the purse and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse the area with lukewarm water, then dry the purse with a rag.
Once your purse is clean, the best way to keep it looking its best is to take preventive measures. When you’re out and about in the park or other grassy areas, try to keep it away from the ground. If you’re going to be sitting on the grass, keep purse in your lap or between your legs – that way, you can avoid any future grass stains.
