Before you can begin cleaning skirt, you'll need to prepare it. Start by turning it inside out, which will help avoid any potential damage from detergents or other cleaning agents. Next, soak stained area in cold water for 15 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft cloth or an old toothbrush.
Once you've prepped your skirt, it's time to apply detergent. Use a mild detergent that's designed for use on delicate fabrics. Apply a few drops directly onto the spot, then work it into the fabric with your fingers or an old toothbrush. Scrub gently until detergent has been thoroughly worked into the fabric and the stain begins to fade.
Once you've scrubbed dirt and stain away, the next step is to rinse the detergent and stain out of the skirt. Do this by running it under cold water, preferably from a tap rather than a hose, until detergent and stain are both removed. Make sure to pay extra attention to the area where the stain was located, and be sure to rinse until all of the detergent is gone.
If the stain remains after you've rinsed the skirt, you may need to apply a bit of stain remover. There are many types of stain removers available, so choose one that's gentle and intended for use on delicate fabrics. Carefully apply a few drops of the remover directly onto the stain, then scrub gently with a soft cloth or an old toothbrush. Allow stain remover to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it out with cold water.
When stain has been successfully removed, hang the skirt up to dry. Avoid hanging it up in direct sunlight, as this can cause colors to fade and fabrics to become brittle. Instead, find a shaded spot where skirt can hang undisturbed until it's completely dry.
