Grass stains

Step 1: Sponge away the Stain

The first step to tackling grass stains is to use a sponge or cloth that’s dampened with warm water. Gently rub it into the stain in a circular motion, as this will help break down stained particles and absorb some of the excess moisture. Then, try using a brush to scrub the area gently until the stain appears to fade. You might need to repeat this step a few times before the stain is completely gone.

Step 2: Apply Detergent

Once you’ve managed to remove some of the stain, you can apply a small amount of detergent directly onto affected area. If your loafers are made of leather or suede then, use a specialized cleaner. Work detergent into the material with a cloth or soft-bristled brush and leave it on for a few minutes. Once you’ve let it sit, rinse away any residue and pat the shoe with a towel.

Step 3: Try Vinegar

If the stain still isn’t budging, it may be time to reach for the white vinegar. Create a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts water and use a clean cloth to dab it onto the stain. Leave this solution on for at least an hour and then vacuum up the area with a brush attachment. This should help pull up any remaining stain residue.

Step 4: Use Professional Cleaning Products

If the stain still won’t go away, professional cleaning products may be your best bet. Take your shoes to a dry cleaner or use specialized products that are designed to tackle tough stains. Follow the instructions on packaging and remember to test the product on an inconspicuous area of the shoe first – just to make sure it won’t cause any damage.

Conclusion

Although they may be tricky to tackle, grass stains don’t stand a chance against a few household ingredients, detergents and specialized cleaning products. With some patience and a bit of elbow grease, you can easily restore your loafers to their former glory.
