Removing stubborn grass stains from clothing can be a challenge, but with the right cleaning techniques you can quickly return your leggings to like-new condition. Here are some helpful tips for grass stain removal.
Pre-Treat with Detergent and Water
Before laundering, mix cold water and liquid detergent in a bowl or sink. Soak the stained area in the cleaning solution for at least 30 minutes. If the stain has already set in, you may want to let it soak overnight.
Launder as Usual
Once the stain has been treated, launder the leggings as you normally would. Depending on the fabric type, you may want to use delicate cycle. Use the warmest water setting safe for the fabric and add a color-safe bleach to the load if desired.
Spot Treat or Repeat Wash Cycle
If stain remains after one wash cycle, don’t dry the leggings. Instead, spot treat affected area by gently rubbing a liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before laundering it again.
Air Dry or Dry Clean
When the stain has been removed, air dry the leggings or take them to a dry cleaner. Avoid putting them in dryer, as this could set the stain permanently.
Prevent Future Stains
To prevent future grass stains, you may want to consider buying a protective spray specifically made for clothes. This will help guard against dirt and other stains.
