1. Identify the Type of Leather

As with any substance, before you start cleaning it, you should understand what type of material you are dealing with. In this case, there are two main types of leather: finished and unfinished. Finished leather is usually more commonly used in stores and restaurants, while unfinished leather is found in outdoor items like camping chairs and handbags.

2. Gently Wipe Off Any Excess Dirt

Next, you will want to gently wipe off any excess dirt or debris that may have gotten on the leather. This will help ensure that you don't rub in the grass stain when you begin to clean it. Use a soft cloth to avoid scratching the leather.

3. Prepare a Cleaning Solution

For finished leather, combine one cup of water, one tablespoon of vinegar, and one teaspoon of dish soap together. For unfinished leather, use a mixture of one tablespoon of saddle soap and one cup of warm water instead. Then, stir mixture together until it is well combined.

4. Apply the Cleaning Solution to Stain

Using a soft cloth, dab cleaning solution onto grass stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Doing this will allow the solution to help break down the grass stain and make it easier to remove.

5. Rinse and Dry

Once the cleaning solution has had a chance to work its magic, you will want to rinse the area off and dry it with a soft cloth. Make sure to do this gently, as to not disturb the leather. Be sure to dry the area completely.

6. Condition the Leather

Now that stain is gone, you'll want to condition the leather to help protect it from future damage. You can use a specially formulated leather conditioner for this step or even olive oil or coconut oil if you have them on hand. Rub conditioner into the leather and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before wiping off any excess.
