Pre-Treating the Stain

Before washing your cotton chambray clothing, it is important to pre-treat the stain. Make sure to read the care label before doing this. The first step is to apply warm water to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes to help loosen up the grass stain. Then, apply a mild laundry detergent directly to the stain and gently rub it in using a soft cloth or brush. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for an additional 10 minutes before proceeding to next step.

Washing the Garment

Fill a sink with warm water and add a small amount of laundry detergent. Soak your cotton chambray clothing in the sink for 30 minutes and then begin to gently hand wash the fabric. After fabric has been washed, rinse the clothing with cold water to remove all traces of detergent.

Drying the Garment

After washing, hang your cotton chambray clothing to dry in a well-ventilated area. Avoid putting the clothing in a dryer, as this could set the stain. If stain does not come out after drying, repeat steps 1-3 until it does.
