When grass stains occur, they usually include dirt or mud that can be easily removed with a damp cloth. Take your damp cloth and gently rub the stained area in a circular motion until all the excess dirt is removed.
Shaving cream is an excellent pre-treatment for grass stains, as it helps break down the stain and make it more soluble. Apply a generous amount of shaving cream onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, gently rub the shaving cream into the stain and rinse with cold water.
Once you've pre-treated the grass stain with shaving cream, the next step is to apply a laundry detergent directly to the stain. Choose a laundry detergent that is designed for tough stains and make sure to read instructions on the bottle carefully. Apply a few drops of detergent onto stain and let it sit for 5 minutes.
After the 5 minutes is up, put shirt in the washing machine and wash on the cold cycle with a mild detergent. Once cycle is finished, hang the shirt to air dry - do not put it in the dryer, as the heat can set the stain onto the fabric.
By following these 4 simple steps, you can effectively remove grass stains from your collared shirt and keep it looking like new. Pre-treating the stain with shaving cream and using a laundry detergent specifically designed for tough stains are key steps to removing grass stains effectively.
