What You'll Need
- Liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Powdered laundry detergent
- Baking soda
- Oxygen bleach
Step-by-Step Guide
- As soon as the grass stain appears, rinse the spot with cold water. Blot the area with a paper towel.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar together in a bowl. Blot the mixture onto grass stain and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Rinse the area with cold water and then dab with a paper towel until the grass stain is gone.
- If grass stain is still visible, mix 2 tablespoons of powdered laundry detergent and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl. Apply mixture to the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Once the mixture has had time to set, rinse the area with cold water and dab with a paper towel until the stain is removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 3-5.
- If nothing else works, mix a solution of oxygen bleach with cold water according to package directions. Allow the fabric to soak in the solution for an hour before washing.
Tips and Tricks
- After soaking and rinsing the garment, make sure to machine wash it immediately. The longer the stain sits on the fabric, the harder it will be to remove.
- For stubborn grass stains, use a toothbrush or soft brush to scrub the stain prior to washing.
- Avoid using hot water when cleaning grass stains. Hot water can set the stain and make it much harder to remove.
