Step 1: Identify Type of Glue

The type of glue stain will determine the best method for removal. There are many types of glues, and it is important to identify the one that is causing the stain. Some common types include: white glue, rubber cement, contact cement, and epoxy.

Step 2: Blot Stain

Once you have identified type of glue, use a paper towel or cloth to blot away at the affected area. Do not rub the stain, as this could cause the glue to spread. If possible, use an old, soft-bristled toothbrush to gently work away at the stain.

Step 3: Apply Detergent Solution

Mix a small amount of a mild detergent in a bowl of warm water. Using a clean cloth or sponge, dab the affected area with the detergent solution. Allow solution to sit for 10-15 minutes before blotting it up with a dry cloth.

Step 4: Rinse the Area

Using cold water, rinse area of the glue stain. If the stain remains, repeat steps 3 and 4.

Step 5: Dry Area

Once all the glue has been removed, lay the item flat to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer.
