Things You'll Need:

  • Dry cleaning solvent
  • Soft-bristle brush
  • Vinegar
  • Wet cloth

Cleaning Off the Glue Stain

  1. Soak the stain in a dry cleaning solvent before trying anything else. Allow it to soak for about 15 minutes.
  2. Scrub off the excess glue with a soft-bristle brush.
  3. Rinse the area with water and let it dry.
  4. If any glue remains, use a diluted solution of vinegar and water on stain.
  5. With a wet cloth, blot the area until the glue is completely removed.

Preventing Glue Stains

  • Avoid wearing items that contain adhesives, such as stickers or patches, on your tuxedo.
  • Be mindful of where you are sitting, standing, or walking, as glue can quickly get stuck onto the fabric of a tuxedo.
  • If you come into contact with glue, take off your tuxedo and clean it immediately.
