Removing Dried Glue

If glue has already dried and hardened on the fabric, start by picking off as much of it as you can. Use a dull edge or tweezers if necessary. If any pieces remain, mix equal parts of water and vinegar in a bowl and dip your cloth in the solution. Use the cloth to gently rub the remaining glue off the fabric, then rinse with clean water and allow it to air dry.

Getting Rid of Wet Glue

If the glue is still wet, you can remove it using rubbing alcohol. Soak a cloth in a mixture of two-thirds rubbing alcohol and one-third water and dab at the glue stain until it loosens. Then, rinse fabric with clean water and let it air dry.

Cleaning Glue Residue

Once all the glue has been removed, you may still be left with some residue or discoloring. To get rid of this, mix up a solution of half a cup of warm water with half a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and rub it into the stain. Rinse the area with warm water and let it air dry. You may also want to try using an enzyme laundry detergent. Apply it according to the instructions and launder the garment normally.

Additional Tips

  • For stubborn stains, use a soft brush to scrub the mixture onto fabric.
  • Always test your cleaning solutions on a hidden area of the fabric before using it on the stained area.
  • In cases of heavily soiled clothes, use a pre-treatment solution before laundering.
