It’s a shame to find glue stains on any type of fabric, let alone the delicate and fragile Teneriffe lace. Fortunately, there are ways to clean glue away without damaging cloth. Before trying the following steps, be sure to test them on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first.

Step 1: Wash as Usual

Before attempting to remove any visible glue, it’s best to give the entire item a regular washing. Make sure to follow care instructions on label. Some fabrics may not be safe to machine wash, so always take caution when cleaning.

Step 2: Apply Detergent or Shampoo

Rubbing a few drops of detergent or shampoo onto glue stain can help loosen the glue. After letting the soap sit for several minutes, use a soft cloth to scrub gently at the glue. If necessary, repeat these steps until the glue is broken down.

Step 3: Soak in Water

If the glue still feels tacky after scrubbing, try soaking the item in lukewarm water. This should help break up the glue residue even more. Allow lace to soak for several minutes, then take it out and rinse it in cold water.

Step 4: Dab with Vinegar

Vinegar is a great natural cleaning solution. Try dabbing a bit of distilled white vinegar on the sticky glue spots. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before dabbing it with a damp cloth. Final steps include rinsing the fabric in cool water and air-drying it.
