The first step to effectively removing a glue stain from tencel is to scrape away as much of the excess glue as possible. Use a dull knife or spoon to gently scrape off the glue without damaging the fabric. Be sure to avoid using anything sharp that might cut or tear the fabric.
The next step is to wet the area of the fabric around the glue stain with cold water. This will help to loosen glue and make it easier to remove. It’s important to use cold water, as hot water can actually cause the glue to spread and set further into the fabric.
Once fabric is wet, apply a few drops of liquid dish soap. Gently rub the soap into the fabric to work it into the glue stain. Let the soap and water work its magic for a few minutes before proceeding.
Use a damp cloth to sponge area with a gentle circular motion. This should help to lift glue away, but if it’s still not coming off, repeat the steps of adding more soap and water and scrubbing gently. Continue until the stain has been completely removed.
Finally, rinse the area with cold water to remove any soap residue. Hang the garment up to dry or put it in the dryer on a low heat setting.
Following these steps should make easy work of removing glue stains from tencel fabric. With a little patience and some elbow grease, it’s possible to keep your clothes looking like new.
