What You Need

  • Appropriate cleaning product for the type of fabric (check fabric tag)
  • Soft bristled brush
  • Q-tips or cotton swabs

How to Remove Glue Stains

  1. Read the care label to determine which cleaner to use. Use a mild soap and warm water solution for fabrics that are machine-washable.
  2. Using a soft bristled brush, lightly brush the area around the glue stain. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
  3. Dip a clean cloth in the cleaning solution and dab gently on the stained area. Do not scrub or rub the fabric. This will make the stain worse.
  4. If the stain is still present after gently dabbing the area, use a Q-tip or cotton swab dampened with the cleaning solution to gently work out area.
  5. Do not saturate fabric - use as little liquid as possible.
  6. After thoroughly cleaning the area, rinse the fabric with cold water or sponge off the excess liquid.
  7. If the glue stain remains, repeat process with a stronger cleaning solution.
  8. Once stain has been removed, allow the fabric to air dry.
