What You'll Need

  • Dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent
  • Soft cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Bowl of warm water
  • Paper towels

Step 1: Inspect the Stain

First, inspect the glue stain and determine what type of glue you're dealing with. Is it a water-based glue or a solvent-based glue? This will tell you which cleaning method is best.

Step 2: Choose Your Cleaning Method

For water-based glues like white glue, all you'll need to do is soak the area in warm, soapy water for 10 minutes or so. Then, use a soft cloth to gently scrub the spot until the glue lifts.

For solvent-based glues such as superglue, you'll need to use a stronger cleaning method. Begin by soaking the area with white vinegar and warm water. Then, use a soft cloth to blot the spot until the glue lifts. If necessary, use a small amount of dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent to help loosen up glue.

Step 3: Rinse & Dry

Once the glue is gone, rinse the area with warm water and blot it dry with a paper towel. Then, lay the sweatpants flat to air dry.
