Glue stains can be an annoying problem when it comes to cleaning your favorite sweaters. They're not only hard to remove, but they can also damage delicate fabrics if not handled properly. Fortunately, with the right cleansers and techniques, you can safely remove glue stains from your sweaters and keep them looking great.

What You'll Need

  • Cotton swab or toothbrush
  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Removing Glue Stains from a Sweater

  1. Start by scraping away any excess glue from the stain with a cotton swab or a toothbrush.
  2. Soak the stained area in a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes.
  3. Create a paste with mild detergent and white vinegar, and apply it to the stain. Rub the paste into stain using a toothbrush.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water and pat dry with a soft cloth.
  5. If the stain is still visible, create a paste with hydrogen peroxide and mild detergent and apply it to stain.
  6. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes then rinse with cold water.
  7. Once glue stain is gone, launder the item as usual.

Tips and Tricks

  • If the stain is still visible after the first cleaning, repeat Steps 3-7 until it is gone.
  • Always test any cleaning agents on an inconspicuous area of the garment to make sure they don’t damage the fabric.
  • Be sure to use cold water when removing glue stains, as hot water could set the stain.
