Remove Excess Glue with a Hammer

If a glob of glue is already dry, it can be tricky to remove. One way to loosen up the glue is to use a hammer. Place a scrap piece of fabric or cardboard over top of the glue to protect the slipper then gently tap with the hammer until the glue breaks off. You may also need to use a putty knife to scrape away any leftover glue.

Soak in Water

Once you’ve gotten rid of the bulk of glue, fill a bowl or basin with warm water and a few drops of mild detergent. Soak affected area of the slipper in the soapy solution for 10-15 minutes, then use your hands to rub the leftover glue residue off. Afterwards, rinse the slipper with clean water and allow it to dry.

Use Denatured Alcohol

If glue is still present after trying the above methods, try using denatured alcohol for tougher stains. First, test a small, hidden area of the slipper to make sure it won’t discolor the material. Once you’ve tested it, soak a paper towel or cotton swab in the alcohol and carefully rub the area in a circular motion. This should soften and remove the glue. Afterwards, rinse with water and wait for it to completely dry before wearing.
