What You'll Need

  • 3/4 cup of white distilled vinegar
  • A spray bottle
  • A soft brush
  • Cold water
  • Dish soap
  • Paper towels or clean cloths

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Mix together 3/4 cup of white distilled vinegar and 1/4 cup of cold water in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the glue stain on the silk satin with vinegar and water solution.
  3. Gently rub the area with a soft brush in a circular motion.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water.
  5. Mix together a tablespoon of dish soap and two cups of cold water in a container.
  6. Soak a clean cloth or paper towel in the soapy water and gently dab the glue stain area.
  7. Allow affected area to air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Make sure to test the vinegar and soapy water solutions on an inconspicuous area of the silk satin item to ensure that it does not cause discoloration.
  • Be sure to rinse the area with cold water before using the soapy water solution, as hot or warm water can set the stain.
  • If stain is still visible after following these steps, it is best to take item to a professional dry cleaner.
