It may feel like you're stuck with a glue stain in your shantung forever, but there is hope! Start by checking the care label on the fabric. Most likely, it will say not to rub the glue stain as it could spread it even more. You also want to be sure not to apply direct heat to get the glue out.

You can start tackling the stain right away by blotting it gently with a cloth and cold water. Apply light pressure so that you don't spread the glue with your cloth. When that's done, try using a liquid laundry detergent that is specifically designed to remove greasy, oily, and waxy stains. You can create a paste with the detergent and work it into the glue stain with a damp brush.

Once you've given it a scrub, you can let it soak for a few minutes, then rinse the fabric with cold water. If the glue stain isn't completely gone, repeat the process until it's out. It's important to be careful with shantung fabric, because you don't want to accidentally damage it while trying to get the stain out.

If the stain persists after you've tried these cleaning methods, you may want to take the fabric to a dry cleaner who specializes in delicate fabrics. It's possible that solvent-based cleaners or steam cleaning may be able to get that glue stain out of your shantung.
