Get Out Glue Stains Quickly with This Rash Guard Cleaning Hack

If you're an athlete or just someone who gets sweaty, chances are you have a few pieces of sporting apparel that you're particularly fond of. But when they're made of any kind of spandex or polyester fabric, and you find yourself dealing with glue stains, it can feel like you might as well just throw them away.

The good news is that your favorite rash guard doesn't have to be ruined by glue stains. With a few simple steps, you can clean it up and get it back to looking as good as new. Here's what you need to know.

How to Get Glue Out of a Rash Guard

  1. Start by treating the glue stain with a laundry pre-treatment such as Prego or OxiClean. Make sure you follow the instructions on the label for best results.
  2. Once the pre-treatment is in place, let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and use a scrub brush to spread the pre-treatment across the stain. This will help loosen the glue and make it easier to remove.
  4. Soak the rash guard in hot water for at least 30 minutes.
  5. After the soak, run the garment through the washing machine. Be sure to use a mild detergent and cold water.
  6. When finished, let the rash guard air dry.

At this point, you should be free of any trace of glue. If for some reason the stain persists, repeat the process until the glue is gone.

Tips to Keep Glue From Coming Back

  • Always wash your rash guard as soon as possible after it gets stained.
  • Avoid using fabric softener when washing polyester and spandex garments, as it can make fabrics more susceptible to staining.
  • Be sure to check for any glue that may be hiding in seams and folds before putting the garment in washing machine.

Following these tips can help you keep your rash guards looking good and free of glue stains for a long time.
