What You’ll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Cotton swabs
  • Clean cloth
  • Nail polish remover
  • Shoe brush

Instructions For Removing Glue from Oxfords

  1. If the glue is still wet, use your fingernail to scrape it off as much as possible. This will make the next steps easier.
  2. Mix two parts white vinegar with one part lemon juice and dab the mixture onto the glue with a cotton swab.
  3. Rub the cloth over the glue in a circular motion until the glue is gone.
  4. If there is still some remaining glue, use nail polish remover to get rid of it — just make sure to spot test in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it won’t damage the material.
  5. Once you’ve removed all the glue, use a shoe brush to buff the area to restore the leather or suede’s texture.

Conclusion

No one likes having to deal with glue stains, but with a few simple steps, it doesn’t have to ruin your favorite pair of oxfords.
