Step 1: Scrape Off Excess Glue

The first thing you need to do is scrape off as much of the excess glue as you can. Use a dull knife or a spoon to gently scrape away the dried glue. If you press too hard, you could damage the mohair fabric, so be sure to be gentle. You can also use a hairdryer set on low heat to soften the glue before scraping it off.

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stained Area

Once you’ve removed as much of the glue as you can, you’ll need to pre-treat the stained area with a mild detergent or cleaner. Choose a cleaner that’s specifically designed for removing glue, such as Goo Gone. Make sure to follow the instructions on product label and test it in an inconspicuous spot first. Rub the cleaner into the spot with a clean cloth and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Step 3: Wash in Cold Water

After pre-treatment period, rinse stained area with cold water. You can use a cloth or soft-bristled brush to remove any remaining residue from the glue. Be sure to avoid using hot water, as this can cause the glue to set more firmly in fabric.

Step 4: Dry the Fabric

Once you’ve rinsed off the stain, carefully dry the fabric with a clean cloth. Avoid using a tumble drier or iron as this could cause glue to set more deeply into fabric.
