To get started, you'll need a few supplies: white vinegar, a soft cloth, a bowl, and either soap or the type of cleaner designed specifically for mink oil-treated leather. You may also need a soft brush, depending on the severity of the stain.
Before cleaning your leather item, it's important to test your cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area to make sure it won't discolor leather. To do this, mix a small amount of cleaner with water and rub it into the leather in an unseen spot. If the leather doesn't become discolored, you can proceed with cleaning.
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl. Use this mixture to blot the glue stain with a soft cloth. This will help to lift the glue and soften the stain, and should be done before using any other cleaning solutions.
If the glue stains remain after blotting with the white vinegar and water solution, you can use soap or a leather cleaner. Dip a soft cloth or brush in the cleaning solution and work it gently into the leather in circular motions. Once you've finished scrubbing, wipe away any excess cleaner with a damp cloth.
Once glue has been removed, you can gently buff the leather to restore its shine. Use a soft cloth to apply a thin layer of mink oil-treated leather conditioner to the leather. buff the leather until it shines.
Allow leather to dry completely before using it. Make sure the leather does not come in contact with any water or moisture during this time.
