The first step is to identify the type of glue stain that needs to be cleaned. Different types of glue require different cleaning methods. Water-based glue, such as white glue or craft glue, can often be removed by blotting the stain with an absorbent cloth dampened with warm water. For other types of glue, such as spray adhesive or super glue, a solvent-based cleaner may be necessary.

If the glue stain is still fresh, use a dull knife or scraper to gently scrape off as much of the glue as possible. Be careful not to damage fabric of jacket. After scraping off as much glue as possible, apply a few drops of rubbing alcohol or solvent-based cleaner to the stain. Blot the affected area with an absorbent cloth, repeating as needed to remove the glue.

If glue stain is old and set in, try applying a few drops of vinegar to the stained area. Let the vinegar soak into the fabric for a few minutes before blotting it away with a clean cloth. Repeat this process a few times, adding more vinegar and blotting until the stain is gone. Once the glue is removed, rinse the area with cold water and allow it to air dry.

For stubborn glue stains, a commercial cleaning product may be necessary. Carefully read the product instructions and follow any warnings or safety precautions listed. Apply the cleaner to the stain according to the instructions, then rinse the area with cold water and allow it to air dry.
