Removing Dried Glue

If glue has already dried on fabric, start by gently scraping away as much glue as possible using a dull knife. Try not to damage fabric or rub too hard on spot.

Cleaning with Detergent and Cold Water

Mix one teaspoon of detergent with two cups of cold water. Apply the mixture to the stained area with a cloth or sponge. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.

Using White Vinegar

White vinegar is another great option for removing sticky residue. Simply pour a small amount of white vinegar on the spot and scrub gently with a brush or toothbrush. Rinse with cold/warm water and repeat as needed until the glue is gone.

Using Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is effective in breaking down molecules in the glue. Pour some rubbing alcohol onto a clean cloth or cotton ball and dab it on the stained area. For tougher stains, allow alcohol to sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it away with a clean cloth.

Using a Hairdryer

To soften up hardened glue, use a hairdryer set to low heat. Hold the hairdryer about 10 inches away from the stained area and direct the heat onto the glue for a few minutes. This will soften it up and make it easier to remove.

Repeat as Needed

Depending on how stubborn glue stain is, it may take a few attempts for the stain to be completely removed. If all else fails, you can always try pre-treating the stained area with a commercial stain remover meant for fabrics.
