Habutai is a lightweight fabric made from silk that is popular for garments, quilts, and other sewing projects. Unfortunately, when working with glue, it can be easy to get glue stains on Habutai fabric. Luckily, there are some simple steps you can take to remove the glue stains before they set in.

Using a dull knife or plastic scraper, carefully scrape away any excess glue that is still wet and hasn’t yet set. Be sure not to press too hard or drag the tool across the fabric as this may damage the delicate fibers of Habutai.
Dampen the area of fabric where the glue stain has set with a damp cloth, and then apply a few drops of liquid laundry detergent directly onto the affected area. Using your fingers, gently massage the detergent into the stain. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.
With a clean, damp cloth, rinse the area where the glue stain was located. Continue to rinse until all of the detergent has been removed from the fabric. Once complete, allow fabric to air dry completely before proceeding.
Once the fabric has dried, place a medium-heat iron on top of the glue stain to help loosen any stubborn residue. Be sure not to allow the iron to come into direct contact with the fabric as this can damage or discolor it.
Once the glue stain has been removed, use a handheld vacuum to remove any remaining bits of glue that may be stuck in the fabric. This will help ensure that the stain is completely gone.
