A combination of vinegar or lemon juice and baking soda can be used to make an effective cleaning paste. Start by mixing 1 part vinegar or lemon juice with 2 parts baking soda in a bowl. Then, use a clean cloth to apply the paste to affected area. Allow the paste to sit for a few minutes to let the vinegar or lemon work its magic. Finally, rinse the flip flop with warm water and glue should come right off.
If the above method doesn't work, you can try using some liquid dish soap and hot water. Make sure you use a mild soap and check it on a small area of the flip flop before using it on the entire surface. Apply a few drops of soap directly onto the glue and rub gently in a circular motion. The soap should help break down the glue and loosen it from the material. Once the glue has been removed, rinse the flip flop with warm water.
For tough glue stains, you may need to reach for something a bit stronger than a cleaning paste or soap and water. WD-40 and mineral oil are both effective at breaking down glue and can be used to gently remove the sticky substance from your flip flops. Just apply some of the lubricant or solvent to the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, use a paper towel to wipe away the glue and rinse the flip flop with warm water.
It's not always possible to avoid getting glue on your flip flops, but you can take a few preventative measures. If you are working with glue, it's best to wear protective gloves to keep your hands and feet clean. Additionally, you can use tape around the edges of the material to protect it from any accidental spills.
